14th Annual Childs Dream
The 14th Annual Childs Dream will take on a new
look for 2011. Over the past 13 years the West End Fire &
Rescue Company has hosted this program to create enthusiasm
in the fire service for area youngsters. Recruiting young
members is very important in the overall existence of the
volunteer fire service. Last year officers from WEFR
discussed opening the
program up to the other two Borough Stations to help
strengthen the program and to utilize each other’s resources
and staffing. The
idea was met with great reception from the Cumberland Valley
Hose Company and the Vigilant Hose Company. A joint
Committee was formed to plan the events for the 14th
Annual Childs Dream.
2011’s Childs Dream will be hosted at the CV Hose Company on
June 25-26, 2011. The events will be a two full days
starting at 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This program is open to area
youngsters from the ages of 11 to 13 years of age. There is
no charge for the event and each participant will receive
two t-shirts for their participation. Events this year will
range from the use of Fire Extinguishers, First Aid, Vehicle
Rescue, Hose Line Drills, Obstacle Course and much more.
You may contact any of the Borough Fire Stations or their
Web Sites for access to an application for this event.
