Rescue Squad Runs House Fire in C-Burg
July 5, 2010- At 0414 hours, Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched on the box for a reported house on fire at 465 Lincoln Way West in the borough of Chambersburg.  The Rescue Squad was due on the box due to two other working fires going on within the county.  Not only did the Rescue Squad run it but, also Truck 53 and Engine 1-52, who was transferred to Station 4 and the 1st due engine company on the box.  Engine 1-52 arrived and reported a working fire on the 2nd floor with possible entrapment.  The Squad crew arrived, performed a search, and assisted with overhaul operations before returning to service.  This was the 3rd working house fire in as many hours within the county, one occurred in the 7-6 box and the other in the 8-04 box.

Building Fire in Shippensburg Borough
July 6, 2010- At 1716 hours, a box alarm was sounded for a reported deck on fire at 332 E. King St. in the borough of Shippensburg.  Engine 15-1 and 15-2 responded on the box and assumed the 2nd and 4th due positions on Side C of the building.  Engine co. 52 and Truck 53 arrived on side A of a 2 story single family dwelling, ordinary construction with light smoke showing from the basement windows on side B.  Chief 4 arrived and established command 4.  It was confirmed that the fire did not involve a deck but, was actually a basement fire.  Crews quickly deployed an attack line to the basement to find heavy smoke conditions with fire burning in the ceiling of the basement.  The fire was confined to several floor joist members of the first floor.  Crews immediately extinguished all visible fire and began ventilation efforts. Upon determination of no further extension, Command 4 held the box to 1 & 1.  Engine 15-1 and 15-2 reloaded their 700 + feet of supply line and returned to service.

One Confined at Fayette and Orange Street
July 14, 2010- At 957 hours, Engine 53, Engine 15-1 as the Rescue Squad, and EMS were dispatched for an auto accident at the intersection of Fayette and Orange street in the borough of Shippensburg.  Units arrived to find 2 vehicles involved with one confined.  Engine 15-1's crew immediately went to work stabilizing the vehicle and removing the drivers side door.  Once removed, the crew assisted EMS with packaging and removing the patient from the vehicle.  Command 4 then released Engine 15-1.  Engine 15-1 returned to service at 1022 hours.

Auto on Fire Next to the Garage
July 15, 2010- At 1738 hours, Box 15-1 was sounded for an auto on fire next to the garage in the 200 block of Clearfield Rd.  Engine 15-1, 15-2, Duty 15, & the Fire Chief responded on the box.  With smoke visible from a distance, Chief 15 immediately requested an operations channel.  Engine 15-1 arrived and reported they had a pickup truck well involved with possible extension to the garage.  Duty 15 arrived and established Command 15.  E15-1's crew deployed an attack line to the pickup truck while other crew members checked the garage for extension.  Crews quickly knocked down the fire and no extension was found.  With no extension, command 15 held the box to E15-1, 15-2, and Tanker 52.  Crews quickly mopped up and company 15 returned to service at 1806 hours.

One into the Creek on Hot Point Ave
July 22, 2010- At 1626 hours, Engine co. 52, Rescue Squad 15, and EMS were dispatched to the 100 block of Hot Point Ave for an auto accident.  Units arrived to find one auto into the creek with no injuries.  The Squad crew checked for hazards before returning to service at 1636 hours.

Tractor Trailer Overturned on the "S" Turns
July 24, 2010- At 1248 hours, Engine co. 51, Rescue Squad 15, and EMS were dispatched to the 500 block of Shippensburg Rd, the infamous "S" turns, for a tractor trailer overturned with entrapment.  Units arrived to find one tractor trailer over the embankment with no entrapment.  The Squad crew checked for hazards before returning to service at 1315 hours.

Cabin on Fire above Turnpike Interchange
July 25, 2010- At 1430 hours, Brush 15 was dispatched to assist on a 51 box for a reported cabin on fire in the mountain area above the Blue Mountain Interchange of the PA Turnpike in Hopewell township.  Due to the limited access to the area, only brush trucks were able to access the road leading to the reported location.  First arriving units found a small cabin on fire that had already burnt to the ground.  Brush 15's crew arrived and assisted with extinguishment of the remaining hot spots along with mop up operations.  Brush 15 returned to service at 1731 hours.

One Flown Out from the "I"
July 27, 2010- At 1448 hours, Engine Co. 15 and Rescue Squad 15 along with Engine Co. 7, Squad 41, and EMS were dispatched to Interstate 81, northbound, in the area of mile marker 22 for a reported auto accident.  Engine company 7 and Rescue Squad 15 arrived to find two autos off the roadway.  Upon investigation, no entrapment was found but, EMS did request air medical due to a patient's condition.  Rescue Squad 15 returned to service at 1507 hours after being released by Command 7.

WEFR Crew in Action at the Fair Stand!
July 25th - 31st, 2010- WEFR members worked the fair stand all week during the Annual Shippensburg Fair.  Thanks to all who helped to make it a very successful week.
