One Overturned in Shippensburg Borough
September 1, 2009- At  0610 hrs., Engine Co. 52, Rescue Squad 15, and EMS were dispatched for an auto accident at the intersection of E. King St. and Queen St. in the Borough of Shippensburg.  Units arrived to find two vehicles involved with one on its side and the roadway completely blocked.  Crews quickly determined that no one was trapped and EMS attended to the injured, while, the engine and Squad crews checked for any further hazards.  Rescue Squad 15 returned to service a short time later.

Barn Fire in Letterkenny Township
September 2, 2009-  At 0319 hrs., Engine 15-2 responded on the box to 7701 Creek Rd in Letterkenny Twp, an 11 Box, for a barn on fire.  First arriving units found a barn well involved.  A defensive attack was ordered.  The WEFR crew assisted with extinguishment and overhaul.  Engine 15-2 later returned to service at 0601 hours.

Small Fire at Chateau Terrace
September 2, 2009- At 0624 hrs., Engine 15-2 was back on the street after just returning from the barn fire.  It was dispatched on the box to 506 Chateau Terrace for a propane grill on fire next to the building.  Units arrived to find a trash can on fire between the propane grill and the building.  The fire was quickly extinguished and no extension was found.  Engine 15-2 returned to service at 0624 hours.

One Entrapped on Neil Rd
September 3, 2009-  At 1315 hrs.,  Engine Company 52, Rescue Squad 15, and EMS were dispatched to the 200 block of Neil Rd for an auto accident, reported with entrapment.  Units arrived to find one auto, over the embankment, with one occupant entrapped.  The Rescue Squad crew immediately went to work stabilizing the vehicle which was on the side of the embankment, partially in a creek.  They then went to work removing the roof and passenger door.  Air medical was requested to the scene.  The patient was removed from the vehicle, packaged, and transported to the landing zone.  Rescue Squad 15 returned to service a short time later.

Food on the Stove in the Apartment
September 6, 2009- Engine Company 15 was dispatched on the box for a reported apartment fire at #8 Morning Star Lane in Shippensburg Twp.  Units arrived to find a 3-story, woodframe, garden style apartment building with nothing showing.  Upon entry, crews found heavy smoke in apartment #9 with a strong odor of food.  It was confirmed to be food on stove with no extension.  The truck crew handled ventilation and the box was held to one & one.  Engine 15-1 and 15-2 returned to service.

One Airlifted From Two Turn Rd
September 22, 2009- Engine and Rescue Squad 15, along with EMS, were dispatched to Two Turn Rd in Southampton Township for a reported dirt bike accident.  Units arrived to find the same and EMS immediately requested air medical to the scene.  Command 15 was established and crews assisted EMS with packaging of the patient while E15-2 established a landing zone.  Stat Medevac was landed at the scene and one patient was airlifted to an area trauma facility.  Command 15 was discontinued and company 15 units returned to service.

Fire in the Building on Rowe Rd
September 26, 2009- At 1525 hrs., Engine and Rescue Squad 15 were dispatched 1st due on the box for reported fire in the building at 414 Rowe Rd, G D Equipment.  Engine 15-1 arrived to find a 1-story, woodframe, commercial structure with light smoke showing from side D.  Command 15 was established on Side A.  E15-1's crew quickly advanced an attack line inside and found an electrical panel on fire with extension to the wall and ceiling directly above the panel.  Power was shut down to the building and the fire was quickly extinguished.  The truck crew assisted with ventilation and checking for further extension.  The box was quickly scaled back by command 15.  Company 15 completed overhaul and returned to service.

Door Removal for the Rescue Squad
September 26, 2009- Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched to assist Co. 52 on an auto accident at Walnut Bottom Rd and Airport Rd.  The rescue squad arrived and removed one door and assisted with packaging of the patient for transport.  Rescue Squad 15 returned to service when released by Command 52.

One into a Tree on Stillhouse Hollow Rd
September 27, 2009- Engine and Rescue Squad 15 were dispatched to Stillhouse Hollow Rd for an auto accident, reported vehicle into a tree.  Units arrived to confirm dispatch and assisted EMS with removal of one patient from the vehicle.  Engine and Rescue Squad 15 returned to service.

Fire Prevention Materials Donated
September 28, 2009- On September 24th, Carl L. Cramer Insurance presented the Shippensburg Fire Department with a donation of fire prevention materials for this years fire prevention activities in the Shippensburg area.  Located at 833 W. King St in the borough of Shippensburg, Cramer's Insurance has been a long time supporter of the Shippensburg Fire Department and WEFR.  A big THANK YOU goes to Carl L. Cramer Insurance and its staff!

One Overturned on Shippensburg Rd
September 29, 2009- At 0750 hrs, Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched along with Co. 52 and EMS to Shippensburg Rd, in the area of Big Flat, for an auto overturned.  Units arrived to find one auto overturned on its roof with no occupants in the area.  It was later determined that the accident happened the prior evening and the auto was left there for the towing service.  Rescue Squad 15 then returned to service.
