Smoke Investigation Off Lindsay Lot Rd
March 4, 2009- Company 15 was dispatched for an investigation of smoke in the area of the mountain, accessing off of Lindsay Lot Rd.  Engine Company 15 and the brush arrived in the area with smoke evident but were unable to immediately locate its source.  After a lengthy search of the area, an access road was found and the source of the smoke discovered.  Crew's found a remote cabin well involved upon their arrival.  Additional brush trucks were requested at this point, due to its remote accessibility.  Crews extinguished the remains of the cabin and contained the fire extending into the surrounding woods.  Company 15 returned to service.

Brush/Shed Fire in Hopewell Twp.
March 9, 2009- Engine Company 15 was alerted to assist Co. 51 with a brush fire involving a shed at 660 Shippensburg Rd in Hopewell Twp.  E15-1 and 15-2 responded and assisted with extinguishment of what was left of the shed and its surrounding area.  E15-1 and 15-2 returned to service a short time later.

Auto Fire on the "I"
March 10, 2009- At 1227 hrs, Company's 7 & 15 responded to a report of an auto on fire on Interstate 81, northbound, at mile marker 21.  A/C 7 arrived to find heavy fire in the engine compartment.  Company 15 assisted Co. 7 on the northbound side and then returned to service.

Brush Fire in Fannett Twp.
 March 12, 2009- Brush 15 and Utility 15 responded to assist Co. 12 with this brush fire at 20237 Back Rd in Fannett Twp.  Units arrived with a very large area involved.  Co. 15's personnel assisted with containment and extinguishment of the area involved.  Brush 15 and Utility 15 returned to service.

Holiday Hair Employees Donate Back!
March 14, 2009- The employees of Holiday Hair, located at 397B Baltimore Rd, presented WEFR today with a donation of all the proceeds from a bake, soup, and hot dog sale that they had recently held.  This donation was for WEFR's services they give to the Shippensburg community and the surrounding areas.

Industrial Accident at CV Co-op
 March 16, 2009- Company 15, along with EMS, were alerted to the CV Co-op for a reported industrial accident at the feed mill facility.  E15-1 and EMS arrived to find an individual who had fell from the top of a grain bin and landed on the roof of the main building.  Command 15 immediately requested the Tower from Co. 53 for assistance.  Per EMS, air medical was requested to the scene.  Crews from Co. 15 and 53 utilized the Tower, along with some minor rope work, to load and lower the patient utilizing a stokes basket.  STAT Medevac was landed nearby and the patient was flown to Hershey.  Company 15 and the Tower returned to service.

School Bus Vs. A Pick-up Truck
March 20, 2009- Shortly after 0800 hrs, Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched to assist Co. 52 with a reported auto accident with entrapment at the intersection of Ridge Rd and Kelso Rd.  Units arrived to find a pick-up truck into the rear of a school bus with no entrapment.  EMS handled some minor injuries and the Rescue Squad was placed in service.

Pick-up Truck Into A House
March 20, 2009- At 1612 hrs, Rescue Squad 15 was alerted for an auto accident, reported pick-up truck into a house, at 33 Cleversburg Rd.  Units arrived to find a pick-up truck that had went through the corner of an attached porch.  The driver was not trapped and was attended to by EMS.  There were no injuries to any occupants of the house.  The Squad crew thoroughly checked for any compromises in the structures integrity and found that the porch needed some shoring.  After properly shoring the porch, the Rescue Squad returned to service at 1807 hrs.

WEFR Apparatus Becomes NFPA 1901 Compliant
March 20, 2009- Through the 2008 State Fire Commissioner's Grant, WEFR has made its apparatus NFPA 1901 Compliant by installing chevron striping on both engines and the rescue squad.  The chevron striping is designed to make the apparatus more visible, while it is stopped, to other drivers on the road .

Youth Group Hosts Squad Wash
March 21, 2009- Youth group members of the Messiah Church of Shippensburg washed the Rescue Squad during their benefit car wash.  The youth group members were only asking for donations.

Mobile Home Fire in Greene Twp.
March 25, 2009- At 0515 hrs, Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched on the Box for a reported mobile home on fire at 640 Mickey Inn Rd, Lot #6.  Units arrived to find a working fire.  Crews put a quick knock on the fire and the Squad crew stood bye as the RIT crew.  The Rescue Squad returned to service at 0652 hrs.

Auto Into "Two" Utility Poles
March 26, 2009- At 1647 hrs., Engine Co. 15 and the Rescue Squad were dispatched to the 7700 block of Olde Scotland Rd for a reported auto accident, auto on its side.  E15-1 and the Rescue Squad arrived to find one sport utility vehicle on its side after clipping two utility poles.  The crews attended to minor injuries and checked for further hazards.  Company 15 returned to service at 1712 hrs.

House Fire in Roxbury
March 27, 2009- At 1633 hrs., The 11 Box was sounded for a house on fire at 11025 Roxbury Rd.  Engine 15-2 responded and units were advised that the caller stated their kitchen was on fire.  Capt. 11 arrived and reported he had a 2 1/2 story wood frame house with smoke showing from side B.  He confirmed a working fire in the kitchen.  Engine Co. 11 stretched a line to the fire.  Engine 15-2 arrived and stretched a backup line.  The fire was knocked down quickly and crews proceeded to open up and check for extension.  Crews remained on the scene for another hour or so for extensive overhaul.  Engine 15-2 returned to service at 1811 hrs.

Brush/Tire Fire
March 28, 2009- At 1750 hrs., Engine Co. 15 and the brush were dispatched for a brush fire at 681 Wagner Rd.  Duty 15 arrived to find more than brush burning.  The property owner was burning a large pile of tires.  Duty 15 requested a tanker and two additional brush trucks.  Units remained on the scene until being released by Command 15 at 1934 hrs.  Company 15 returned to service.
