| One Confined On The "I" |

July 1, 2009-
Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched to I81 southbound, in the
area of mile marker 30, for an auto accident. First
arriving units reported one auto off the roadway with
confinement. The Squad crew arrived and immediately
began extrication efforts. They then assisted with
removing and packaging the patient for transport by EMS.
Rescue Squad 15 then returned to service.

| Another One Entrapped On The "I" |

July 8, 2009-
At 0603 hrs.,
Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched to I81 southbound, in the
area of mile marker 30, for an auto accident. First
arriving units reported one auto off the roadway with
entrapment. Air medical was requested to the scene. The Squad crew arrived and immediately
began extrication efforts. They then assisted with
removing and packaging the patient for transport by Life
Lion.
Rescue Squad 15 then returned to service at 0648 hours.

| One Of WEFR's Own Makes It To
The Top! |
July 8, 2009-
Congratulations to one of WEFR's own for making it to the
top. Tonya Hoover has been named the new California
State Fire Marshal. Tonya has served as Assistant
(Acting) California State Fire Marshal since September,
2007.

| Brush Fire Extends to Fiber
Optic Lines |

July 9, 2009-
At 2231 hrs., Engine Company 15 was dispatched for a
reported brush fire at 5685 Greenvillage Rd in Greene
township. E15-1 arrived to find shrubbery on fire that
extended to the utility lines above them. Crews
quickly knocked down the fire but, not before it did
extensive damage to those fiber optic lines.
Telephone, cable, and internet service for the area was down
for several hours until crews could repair those lines.
Company 15 returned to service at 2305 hours.

| Minor Accident Claims Fire
Hydrant |
|
July 17, 2009-
At 0727 hrs.,
Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched to N. Earl St. and Burd St.
for an auto accident. Units arrived to find an auto
into a fire hydrant with no entrapment. EMS handled an
injured driver and Command 52 placed Squad 15 in service.
Rescue Squad 15 returned to service at 0735 hours.

| Minor Accident In The 54-01 Box |
|
July 20, 2009-
At 1517 hrs.,
Engine and Rescue Squad 15 were dispatched to Molly Pitcher
Hwy and Park Heights Ave, Box 54-01, for an auto accident.
E15-1 and the Squad responded on the call. Rescue
Squad 15 arrived and confirmed dispatch with only minor
injuries. The Squad quickly placed E15-1 in service.
Rescue Squad 15 then returned to service at 1527 hours.

| 2009 Shippensburg Fair |
July 28, 2009-
The 2009 Shippensburg Community Fair is here and gone for
another year. Despite the weather, it was another
successful year at the fair stand. Thank you to all
who came out and supported us and all of the community organizations involved.
THANK YOU to all the members who gave of their time to make
the week happen.

| House Fire in Penn Township |
|
July 29, 2009-
At 1342 hrs., Engine Company 15 was dispatched to 1751 Pine
Rd, in Penn Twp., as RIT on the box for a house on fire.
Normally, the Rescue Squad would be due on this assignment
but, it with a crew of 5 personnel were already committed on
an auto accident in Station 4's area. Command 44 did
immediately release the Rescue Squad so that it could
respond but, due to its location and the fact that E15-1 was
already responding with 4 personnel, the Rescue Squad
returned to service. The engine crew performed RIT
duties and stood bye as manpower at the scene. E15-1 returned to service at
1631 hours.

| Extrication Training on Sara's
car |
|
July 30, 2009-
Members participated in weekly training involving vehicle
extrication. Although, this training night utilized a
member's car for its practical exercises. Sara Myers
decided to retire her old car and donated it to improving
our expertise on vehicle extrication. It will never be
the same. Thank you Sara!

| Donation made to Child's Dream
Program |
|
July 31, 2009-
On Friday, Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home and Matthews
International Casket Company presented a donation to the
Child's Dream program in the amount of $500.00. The
Child's Dream program, along with West End Fire & Rescue Co.
and the Keith Hess Memorial Fund, wish to THANK both the
Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home and Matthews International
Casket Company for their generous support of the Child's
Dream Program and the Keith Hess Memorial Fund.

| Odor of Smoke at Daycare
Facility |

July 31, 2009-
At 1017 hrs., the box was sounded for an odor of smoke at
9540 Molly Pitcher Hwy, a day care center. E15-1 arrived to
find a one story, wood frame daycare facility with nothing
showing on side A. Upon investigation, occupants
advised of an odor of smoke in the kitchen area. Crews
found a faulty emergency light. Command 15 returned
all units. Company 15 returned to service at 1042
hours.
