December 4, 2009-
Just before 0800 hrs, Engine and Rescue Squad 15 along with
EMS were alerted for a multi-vehicle accident in the area of
Mt Rock Rd and Possum Hollow Rd. Engine 15-1, 15-2,
and the Rescue Squad responded along Chief 4, Jaime White,
as Company 15's duty officer. Chief White was advised
of multiple calls reporting several autos and a dump truck
involved with entrapment and fire. Command 15 was
immediately established as heavy smoke was already visible
in the distance and Engine Company 52 was requested for
further assistance. Engine 15-1 and Duty 15 arrived to
find a car, a van, and a dump truck involved with heavy fire
and one entrapped in the van. Fire was also spreading
to a nearby field as a result of the diesel spill. E
15-1's crew quickly deployed an attack line in order to
knock down the heavy involvement of fire. Crew's
quickly knocked the fire only to discover the driver of the
van was deceased. The driver of the car and dump truck
had escaped with minor injuries and were treated by the EMS
crews. Company 15 units would remain on the scene for
several more hours as PSP performed their investigation,
extrication was completed, and mop up was performed.

| A "THANK YOU" to Fire
Chief Randy O'Donnell |
December 14, 2009-
At WEFR's December monthly meeting, incoming Fire Chief Mark
Cleck and the members of WEFR made a very special
presentation to outgoing Fire Chief Randy O'Donnell.
The membership presented Randy with a white leather helmet
outfitted with a gold leaf Chief's shield for his new
position as Fire Chief of the Shippensburg Fire Department.
Randy will take over for the retiring Fire Chief, Jamie
White. Chief Cleck and the membership surprised Randy
with this presentation even though he had expressed to Chief
Cleck, through earlier discussions, how he did not want
anything special done on his behalf. It was well
deserved! Randy leaves the position of WEFR Fire Chief
after many, many years as our chief and a lifelong
dedication to WEFR and its members.
We would all like to say "Thank You"
to Chief O'Donnell for his years of service and dedication
to this department. This department would not be where
it is today if it weren't for your dedication Chief
O'Donnell. I, personally, would like to say
"Thank You" to Chief O'Donnell.
You have served either as Fire Chief or President since the
beginning of my career with WEFR, 17 years ago, and have
been a mentor and a friend to me since the day I joined.
Your dedication has been an inspiration! THANK YOU!! -
"Goch"
The incoming officers, both operational and administrative,
were also sworn in for 2010 at the company meeting.
