Smoke Detector Giveaway at Weis Markets
November 1, 2008- Company 15 participated in a smoke detector giveaway at Weis Markets.  Special Thanks to Bryan Coy, Shippensburg University, and ABC 27 News for their support of this event.

Chimney Fire in the Boro.
November 2, 2008- Company 15 was dispatched to 135 Roxbury Rd for a chimney fire.  It was determined to be a good intent call.  All units returned to service.

Tractor Trailer Fire on the "I"
November 4, 2008- At 0440 hours, Company 15 was dispatched to Interstate 81 southbound in the area of mile marker 23 1/2, which is in Southampton township Franklin county, for a reported tractor trailer accident with fire.  Engine 15-1 and 15-2 arrived to find two tractors involved with heavy fire throughout the one tractor trailer.  The fire was knocked down.  It was determined that the one tractor trailer was attempting to pass another when a tire blew causing him to strike another tractor trailer, cross the median and two southbound lanes, and burst into flames.  Both drivers self extricated themselves and amazingly were not injured.  The interstate remained closed throughout the morning rush hour causing major traffic backlogs in the area.  Company 15 returned to service.

Vehicle Vs. a Utility Pole.
November 4, 2008- Company 15 was dispatched to the 7100 block of Old Scotland Rd for an auto accident, reported to be an auto into a utility pole.  Rescue Squad 15 arrived and confirmed they had one auto versus a utility pole with no entrapment.  EMS handled the patient care and the crew checked for hazards.  All units returned to service.

One Confined on the "S" Turns
November 5, 2008- Squad 15 was dispatched to the 500 block of Shippensburg Rd in Hopewell township for an auto accident, reported one overturned with confinement.  As we are very familiar with, this accident was going to be in the area of the "S" turns.  Units from Co. 51 and Rescue Squad 15 arrived to find one auto overturned with one patient still confined in the vehicle.  The Squad crew stabilized the vehicle and assisted with removing the patient.  Squad 15 returned to service after extrication was complete.

Auto Vs. Utility Pole
November 9, 2008- At 1955 hours, Company 15 and EMS were dispatched to the 7000 block of Old Scotland Rd for a MVA.  Engine 15-1 and the Rescue Squad arrived to find a single vehicle accident involving a utility pole.  The utility pole was completely sheared off and partially blocked the roadway.  EMS handled a minor injury and fire police remained on the scene until the pole could be attended too.  The Engine and Rescue Squad returned to service.

House Fire in Fannett Township
November 10, 2008- At 01:05 the 12-03B chimney fire box assignment (Engine Co 12, Single Engine Co 11, Tanker 12 and Ambulance Co 12) was struck for Drifted Lane off of Amberson Road. While units were enroute, Franklin County Communications advised Deputy Chief 12 that they received a second call advising fire in the attic. At that time the chimney fire box was upgraded to a full box alarm assignment, which added Engine Co. 15 to the box. A third call then reported fire "rolling" through the attic and out the eves, the working fire dispatch was dispatched (Air Unit 53). Units arrived with smoke showing, after making entry they encountered heavy fire in the 2nd floor and attic areas. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes and crews began overhaul operations.  Company 15 personnel assisted with extinguishment and overhaul before returning to service.

Motor Home Vs. a Tractor Trailer on the "I"
November 10, 2008- At 0920 hours,  Engine and Rescue Squad 15, along with Co. 52 and EMS, were dispatched to Interstate 81 southbound at mile marker 25, in the area of the Mainsville Rd overpass, for an auto accident.  Units were advised of a tractor trailer and a motor home pulling an auto being involved.  The Rescue Squad arrived and confirmed dispatch conditions.  No injuries were found amongst the drivers and passengers.  Crew members checked for hazards and leaks before returning to service.

House Fire in the Boro
November 17, 2008- At 0225 hours, the box alarm was sounded for 463 E. King St, in the boro of Shippensburg, for a house on fire.  Engine Co. 52 arrived to find a two story, wood frame house with heavy smoke showing from side A and fire showing from Side B.  Co. 52 deployed an attack line on the fire and E 15-1's crew pulled a line to back them up.  Squad 15's crew performed a search of the house and performed overhaul operations on the 2nd floor.  Truck 53 opened the roof, ventilated, and performed overhaul.  Company 15 returned to service, once released by Command 52.

Auto into a Mobile Home
November 18, 2008- At 1955 hrs., Engine and Squad 15, along with EMS, were dispatched to 5368 Philadelphia Ave. for an auto accident, reported auto into a mobile home.  Engine 15-1 and the Rescue Squad arrived and confirmed dispatch.  EMS attended to the injured driver and an injured occupant of the mobile home.  Engine 15-1, 15-2, and the Rescue Squad returned to service around 2100 hrs.

One Overturned on the "S" Turns
November 19, 2008- At 0310 hrs., Squad 15 was dispatched to the 500 block of Shippensburg Rd in Hopewell township for an auto accident, reported one overturned.  As we are very familiar with, this accident was going to be in the area of the "S" turns.  Units from Co. 51 and Rescue Squad 15 arrived to find one auto overturned, down an embankment.  The Squad crew checked the vehicle for hazards or leaks, while EMS attended to the victim.  Squad 15 returned to service around 0340 hrs.

Fatal MVA on the "I"
November 21, 2008- At 1535 hrs, Companies 15 and 7, along with Squad 41 and EMS, were dispatched to Interstate 81 southbound at mile marker 24 for an auto accident with entrapment.  While enroute, Deputy Chief 15 was advised of a pick-up truck into the rear of a tractor trailer with entrapment.  He was also advised by communications of a possible class 4 patient and near white out conditions in the area.  Rescue Squad 15 arrived to confirm dispatch.  The driver was confirmed to be pinned in the pick-up and class 4.  Command 15 held CO. 15, A73, & M84.  Fire police closed I81 southbound down for several hours. Engine and Squad 15 returned to service.

Members Gather for a Thanksgiving Dinner
November 22, 2008- On Saturday, a group of members gather for an early Thanksgiving dinner at the firehouse.  They deep fried a turkey and cooked up all the fixins'.  It was a good time of fellowship and an example of the fire service brotherhood.
   

One Trapped at Newburg Rd & Ridge Rd
November 23, 2008- At 0830 hours, Rescue Squad 15 was dispatched to an auto accident with entrapment at Newburg Rd and Ridge Rd in Hopewell Twp.  Units from Co. 51 arrived to find a single vehicle overturned with entrapment on the Newburg side of Ridge Rd, which is actually Shippensburg Rd.  Squad 15 arrived, stabilized the vehicle and began extrication.  Life Lion was requested to the scene by Command 51.  Upon completion of the extrication, one patient was flown from the scene via Life Lion.  Rescue Squad 15 returned to service.

House Fire in the 7-5 Box.
November 23, 2008- At 1450 hrs, the 7-5 Box was sounded for a house fire at #10 Coldspring Rd.  Units arrived with smoke showing from a 2 story home.  Initial crews found fire in the walls with some extension in the attic.  Company 15 returned to service once the fire was declared under control.

MVA w/Entrapment on King St
November 26, 2008- At approx. 0730 hrs, Engine and Squad 15, along with A73 and M84, were dispatched to the 500 block of W. King St, in the area of Naugle Motors, for an auto accident with entrapment.  Rescue Squad 15 arrived to find 2 vehicles off the roadway with one auto into a pole and a patient trapped.  As the squad crew went to work on extricating the patient, EMS requested air medical to the scene.  An LZ, handled by E 15-1, was established nearby and one patient was flown via Life Lion.  Engine 15-1 and the Rescue Squad returned to service.
