MVA on Piper Rd.
May 2, 2008- At 1616 hrs., Squad 15 was dispatched to assist Co. 52 with an MVA on Piper Rd.  Communications advised them of a single vehicle accident where the vehicle reportedly struck a guard rail and then came to rest in a field.  Squad 15 A.O.S. and confirmed dispatch with no one apparently around the vehicle.  Squad 15 checked for fluid leaks and other hazards to find nothing.  E 252 released Squad 15 at 1629 hrs.  The Squad returned to service.

CO2 Leak at McDonald's.
May 3, 2008- Company 15 was dispatched to the boro of Shippensburg on the 52-01 box for a reported Carbon Dioxide (CO2) leak in the McDonald's, 330 E. King St.  Co. 15 investigated further to find a leak in one of the CO2 cylinders for the fountain soda machine.  Lt 52 released Co. 15 and they returned to service.

MVA on Ritner Hwy.
May 3, 2008- At 0741 hrs., Squad 15 was dispatched to assist Co. 52 with an MVA at 1332 Ritner Hwy.  Upon the arrival of Co. 52, they advised of confinement.  Squad 15 then A.O.S. and Chief 52 requested the crew to pop the door in order to remove the driver.  Squad 15 returned to service at 0756 hrs.

Hazmat Operations Level Refresher 
May 8, 2008- On Thursday evening, WEFR members participated in a Hazmat refresher, Operations level.  After a brief classroom lecture, members headed out to conduct a practical drill involving a simulated spill in a stream.  They were required to construct an under flow dam to control the movement of the stream water as well as contain the spill. 
Everyday is a training day in this profession.

Landing Zone for Life Lion 
May 14, 2008- At 1108 hrs, Engine Co. 15 was dispatched to 312 Volvo Dr. to set up a landing zone for Life Lion.  E15-2 responded and setup the landing zone.  Members landed the helicopter and returned to service.

Career Day at the High School
May 15, 2008- Members attended Career Day held at Shippensburg Area Senior High School.  Members setup a display and demonstrated the use of fire fighting equipement.

Tractor Trailer Fire At Warrior Roofing
May 16, 2008- At 0129 hrs, Squad 15 was dispatched to assist on the 44-13 Box with a tractor trailer on fire next to the building at Warrior Roofing Manufacturing.  Squad 15 A.O.S. and assisted with overhaul operations.  Squad 15 returned to service at 0244 hrs.

MVA in the 900 Block of Ridge Rd
May 22, 2008- At 1527 hrs, Squad 15 was dispatched to assist Cumberland County Co. 51 with a MVA w/confinement in the 900 block of Ridge Rd.  Squad 15's crew arrived and popped the driver's side door.  They then assisted with removal of one patient.  The Squad returned to service at 1552 hrs.

SMART Triage Training
May 22, 2008- Co. 15 members attended a SMART Triage training evolution.  Members, who were grouped in teams of 2, were tasked with assessing and prioritizing 20 "stuffed patients".  This was a great opportunity for members to get some hands on experience with the never-used MCI equipment carried on the Rescue Squad.  Thank you to the instructor, Ryan Elborne.

Junior Members visit Harrisburg Fire Museum
May 24, 2008- The junior members went on a field trip today to visit some sites in our state capitol of Harrisburg.  They visited the Harrisburg Fire Museum and Tower Ladder 2 of the Harrisburg Fire Department.  Thank you to Bradley Myers for acting as a tour guide for the junior members and also for the pictures from their trip.  Brad is career fireman with the Harrisburg City Fire Department and assigned to Tower Ladder 2.  He is also a long time volunteer with WEFR.  Check out his Blog site, shippensburgfiredepartment.blogspot.com.

Lurgan Ave & King St. MVA
May 24, 2008- Dispatched for a MVA at Lurgan Ave and King St., Co. 15 A.O.S. to find no injuries.  The crews checked for hazards, fluid leaks, and disconnected power to the one vehicle.

Mock Disaster Drill at SASHS
May 31, 2008- On Saturday, units from the Boro of Shippensburg and the surrounding jurisdictions participated in a mock disaster drill held at the Shippensburg Area Senior High School.  Boro Fire Chief Jamie White scheduled the drill and was there to oversee the event.  Transfer crews covered the Boro while, units were involved in the drill and even handled a response to Ship U..
