Fire on
the Roof of the Volvo Plant

| March 1, 2008- At 1254 hrs, the 54-01 Box was dispatched for fire in the
building at the Volvo Plant
on Volvo Way in the Boro of Shippensburg. Units arrived to
find fire on the roof. Engine 1-54
advanced a 300' line to the fire area. The small fire on
the roof was extinguished and followed by
extensive overhaul. Units cleared the scene at 1454 hrs. |

Walnut Bottom Rd MVA
|
March 1, 2008-
At 1719 hrs, Squad 15
was dispatched for a MVA on Walnut Bottom Rd
in the area of the 300 block. Squad 15 A.O.S. and was
placed in charge of landing the helicopter
per command 52. Two patients were flown out. Squad 15
cleared the scene at 1828 hrs. |

Gas Leak at Reasner Hall
|
|
March 4, 2008-
At 0810 hrs, Company 15, along with Co. 52 & 53,
were dispatched to Shippensburg University's Reasner
Hall for a reported gas leak in the building.
Units A.O.S. and investigated to find the odor was
coming from the construction equipment working
outside the building. Reasner Hall is
currently undergoing major renovations and an
addition. The odor was entering the building
via the ventilation system. Company 15 cleared
the scene and returned to service. |

Water Rescue on S. Fayette St.
|
March 5, 2008-
At 0356 hrs, Squad 15 responded to assist Co. 52
units on water rescue on S. Fayette St. at the
underpass. This area regularly floods during
times of heavy rain. Squad 15's crew assisted
in the removal of one individual from their car that
was stranded in the high water. Squad 15
cleared the scene and returned to service.

Ebenezer
Rd Chimney Fire
|
| March 5, 2008-
At 1038 hrs, Company 15 was dispatched to assist Co. 11 with
a chimney fire at 7072 Ebenezer Rd in Lurgan Twp.
E15-1 A.O.S. and was assigned roof operations. E15-1's
crew laddered the roof, ran the chains, & cleaned out the
bottom of the chimney. Units cleared the scene within
45 minutes. |

2008 Awards Banquet

March 8
2008- On this
evening, WEFR members, family, & friends gathered at Premier
Events in Shippensburg to celebrate another successful and
exciting year. Everyone enjoyed a short awards
ceremony honoring our members' achievements throughout the
year. They also enjoyed a video documenting some of
the memorable events from the past year. Finally,
everyone let loose and relaxed, some more than others, while
the DJ played. Congratulations to all the award
winners! Sorry for the delayed post!

Rowe Rd
Barn Fire
|
| March 12, 2008-
At 2046 hrs, FCC sounded Box 15-1 for the reported barn on
fire at 878 Rowe Rd in Southampton Twp. As role call
was being done, Asst. Chief 15 A.O.S. and reported a 30' X
100' animal storage building with heavy fire showing.
Command 15 was established and crews began to knock down the
bulk of the fire and protect exposures. Within an
hour, Command 15 reduced the box and released most of the
units. |

Brush Fire on Hall Ave.
|
|
March 13, 2008-
At 1545 hrs, Co. 15 was alerted for a brush fire on
Hall Ave in Southampton Twp..
Units arrived to find a small field fire and extinguished the same.
Units cleared and returned to service. |

Tractor Trailer Overturned on the "I"
|
|
March 20, 2008-
At 0100 hrs, Engine Co. 15 & Squad 15 were dispatched to I81
southbound in the area of MM 28.5 for a reported auto
accident. Units arrived to find a tractor trailer
overturned. The contents of the trailer, which happened to
be fresh pig lungs, were spilled onto the lanes of the
interstate. Squad 15 assisted with lighting and fluid
control. Squad 15 was released and returned to service at
0132 hrs. The interstate remained closed for almost 6
hours. |
